TV Việt Nam v0.5 & xbmc repository

26.03.2012, development, kodi, opensource, by .

I’m quite glad that a few people have used and given good feedback to the TV Việt Nam plugin. Which has encouraged me to further improve it. So meet version 0.5. Two new VTV channels (VTV6 and VTV9) and 18 SCTV ones have been added, these new channels are pulled from TV24 (an SCTV website). To avoid crowding, the SCTV channels and existing VOV stations have been put into submenus.

In response to a couple feedback regarding the ease of installation, I’ve also setup an add-on repository. This will mean that all future updates of tvvn will be checked and updated automatically by xbmc. To get version 0.5 and later, you need to do the following:

  1. Download this file.
  2. In xbmc go to: Settings > Add-ons > Install from zip file > Point to repository.zecoj.zip > xbmc will tell you that “Add-on enabled”.
  3. Go to: Get add-ons > zecoj box > Videos add-ons > TV Viet Nam.

UPDATE: This plugin is now available from the official repository. Please see this post.

That should be it. Have fun.

  6. First thanks for making these plugin for our vietnamese communities. I have a request about the TV Vietnam channel. Can you add the title each channel such as SCTV1 is kênh hài , SCTV15 is kênh thể thao… .Is it possible to write plugin (SBTN- Thuy nga stream channel) for XBMC?

  7. @Edi: can you create that list for me and I’ll add it in. Keep it short and simple, in the format of “SCTV1 – Hài”, “SCTV15 – Thể Thao”, etc. Cheers.

I don’t see it in the XBMC repository list? Do I need to do something in XBMC to make it appear in the list?

  9. @nuprin: you need xbmc eden. What version are you using?

  10. 2012-04-23 at 12:43 nuprin

I am using XBMC Eden 11.0 Beta 3, but when I go into XBMC.org repository under Video Add-ons, I don’t see the TV Vietnam option anywhere.

  11. @nuprin: Please try Eden final, I think betas use eden-pre repo, to which tvvn is not available. Any reason for not upgrading?

  12. 2012-04-24 at 22:49 nuprin

zecoj, to be honest with you I’m new to XBMC so I was unaware there was a new XBMC version. I have upgraded and now have XBMC Eden 11.0, however I still don’t see tvvn. Should updating XMBC be enough, or do I need to update the XBMC.org repository as well. I have gone to Settings>Add-ons>Get Add-ons>XBMC.org Add-ons>Video Add-ons…and still don’t see tvvn in the list of video add-ons.

  13. @nuprin: is there anything in “Video Add-ons” at all? if no, then you need to “force refresh” the official repo (after go to “Get Add-ons”, high light “XBMC.org Add-ons” and press “c” or right click)

THANK YOU Zecoj!! I needed to “force refresh”…I wasn’t aware that needed (or could be) done. I have it now!
